On May 23, 2022, at approximately 11:09 p.m., Harker Heights Police Officers were dispatched to the 1700 block of Verna Lee Blvd in reference to an automobile vs pedestrian accident. The victim and witness told officers that they were walking southbound on Verna Lee, when they observed a white in color sedan traveling northbound. The sedan crossed onto the sidewalk, struck the victim and continued back onto the roadway towards the intersection of Indian Trail and Verna Lee.
Video surveillance was obtained from a nearby convenience store, and it showed the suspect vehicle was a white in color Dodge Avenger (unknown plate number or state). The vehicle was seen taking a right onto Indian Trail and southbound.
The victim sustained minor injuries as a result of the accident.
